hey now , started to research a bit before coventry and wondering which windscreens to buy, ive checked out shure but $60.00 for a pair.. yikes .. saw dpa had em a bit cheaper but i might be looking at the wrong stuff.. if anyone can shed some light would be greatly appreciated ..
also looking at making my own .. checked on getting some bulk foam .. but didnt know the effects of stnadard foam vs. those that are mics specific.. peace and a good day to all

DPA UA0896. FWIW, there's a reason the Shure's are more expensive - they're more effective in heavier winds.

..hey now brian , when were talking windy situations , how bad are we talking .. im on the east , soo we get the occasional 15-20 mph gust , but usually in the 5-10 mph range.. would the dpa prove insufficient or. ??

I suck at estimating wind speed. I'd guess the DPAs are fine for 5-10mph but won't hold up much beyond that range. The Shure's have handled thunderstorm-level winds IME.

ditto on all the above. the shures got a test last weekend, estimated 20+ mph. very minimal windnoise, zero during the music. waaayyyy more effective than the dpas.

..yea think ill spring for the more expensive . same more in the long run.. anyone know if these work with the akg 480's?

Check the Archival Info forum for the w/s diameter, then measure your mics' diameter.

I am working on getting a pair of them in hand for the Gorge DMB shows as well.
