I have run my ua5 that much and dont know the run times. The ua-5 is 450ah. I have a 9.6v 3000mah and 1600mah so this the correct math??
3000/450=6.6 hours
1600/450=3.5 hours
I know they wont run for the full amount of time. I am not using phantom power
usually take the capacity/ draw *.8
The deneke ps-2 phantom box pulls 280, so just to be safe say the ua-5 w/o phantom on is only pulling 250, with .8 (can't drain 100%) factored in. that gives you 5 hours on a 1600mha
I've never run longer than 4.5 without switching, but it's a safe bet.
Can any of the electronically inclined tell us how to measure the actual amp draw of the ua-5 w/o phantom on?

place a multimeter in SERIES in (+) side of the power supply and measure the current (amperes).
for example:
[ battery ] (+) _________ MULTIMETER ________________ [ua5]

Ah, thanks.
I'll have to try that on saturday, since I have to go right from work to a show again tonight (bad plus this time)
I'll post results asap

So you get 4.5 hours on 1600ma?? That means I should easly get 8-9 hours on the 3000ma

Just reread some of what ya wrote....not sure I'd assume it's using the same amount as the ps-2......I just seem to remember phantom being used doesn't add much draw as 200+mAh.
I am probably wrong though.
Sorry gang,
My multi-meter is not multi enough. Does not measure amperage.
And I thought I was cool because I had a fancy digital multi-meter. :-[

I measured this a year or so ago. The 2 numbers were measured from battery and ac sources respectively. I don't know why they were different but they were.
phantom off 260, 280
phantom on, mics attached 360, 390
add 20mA if driving headphones
