Anybody ever use the MZ-R50? Reccomendations??
-
the r-50 is OLD SCHOOL. It is the 3rd generation sony deck. They are built like a tank, unlike the new ones. The external battery compartment is a big plus, but most new ones have it.
The drawbacks are you can't change levels while recording and no mdlp support.
If you can get one in good shape, it should last you a while. Mine has seen lots of action and still works great.

What's the best way to hook it up to computer since it has no USB?
Sorry for the newbie Q's!!
-
line out>line in on your sound card is the only way to do it. Or line out>ua-5>usb (any a/d>pc box will work)

The mic input probably boosts the signal coming in from the source. The line in probably doesn't.

on some pc's the line in and mic in are the same input, but it has an internal preamp that you can turn on and off. Go into your volume control, and hit advanced its there.. turn off the 20 db or whatever boosts it has. peace. ;D
