Title: Salvaging a hot recording?

I'm transferring a DAT for a friend and the recording is pretty hot. The levels don't clip, but the waveform is all blown out and there is some slight distortion when the music gets loud and it just generally sounds hot.

Is there anything I can do in Soundforge to make it a little more listenable? I'm familiar with transferring and Soundforge, but I've never used any of the advance features for something like this.

Any help would be appreciated!

try declipping and see if that helps, otherwise, id trash it personally
