T.H.E. has been a very very well respected mic company.  I dont know how this particular mic sounds, but I know across the board I've seen nothing but great reviews for them.

I'd be reluctant to spend $2,500 (if I had $2500) on mics that I've never heard, no matter how cool they look.  Plus, if I was spending that kind of money on mics, I'd buy some AKGs or MGs.  Some of their other models look really nice and competitively priced, and they are made in the USA (I think).

Made in USA means you are supporting US workers, etc.  It is not a big deal to me--I drive a car from Japan and most of my gear is from Asia.  Also, you just can't beat German engineering for mics, IMO.  I'm thinking of picking up a pair of Studio Projects mics that are made in China.  All things being equal, I buy American.  Too bad US made products are hard to come by and often more expensive or lawer quality if they exist at all.

btw, i dont think the studio projects mics are assembled in china, i believe the components are made there and manufactured in the us, but i could be wrong on this.  im really not sure.

personally, i could care less about where it comes from- i just look for quality and price point.

on the slip of paper that came in mine it said manufactured in china and individually inspected in the US, whatever that means
