So.....
I just bought my UA-5 and decided to go ahead with the digimod DIY style, thanks to the info at:

Now it doesn't power up.
Has anyone had this experience? Am I totally hosed here? All I did was scrape the one tracer and solder on the jumper. Seemed pretty basic, at the time...
Time for a drink

Forget about it....
After some diagnostics, a short temper tantrum and a few shots of Jack Daniels, I've determined that this thing is totall shot. Anyone want a UA-5 for free spare parts?

Damn are you sure it cant be fixed?
What happened to make it unusable?
where did you buy it in the first place?
Did you slip anywhere with the soldering iron? Neither of those spots are near the power supply. I could see how you could mess up the digital path but it should still power up. Check for power from your wall wart.
Yeah, I find it pretty peculiar, too.
The wall wart meaasures a steady +12v DC. I pretty darn sure I didn't hit anything other than the 2 solder points and the one tracer. I talked to one of my buddies who works for the man designing boards & stuff over at Intel and he's gonna take a look at it and tell me what he thinks. One of the few redeeming qualities of working in the Silicon Valley....

I can't even begin to say how true this is.
