i finally got my stand out of the box b/c i'm going to use it tomorrow. how the hell do u get this damn silver thing off??? i tried unscrewing it and can't get it off? moke...brian...anybody help me here...

You can't get that off. You must get an adapter to fit onto that with a 5/8" stud on the adapter. I have seen them in pics, no personal knowledge. That stud top is just a different top than the 1/4" common on these stands.
You can also just clamp to the stand as it is until you get the adapter.

look down on this page...mic supply sells it...I know others do to, but it is the 3/8 5/8 screw adapter

crap, so much for taping tomorrow >:( i knew i should have ordered a clamp to be safe...

You can get a suitable clamp at many music stores, and may even be able to rig something from hardware store parts...

You can find the part numbers you need to transform your 5/8" stud into the 5/8" thread needed for your stereo bar in the archival info forum.
Goose is right on - just about any music gear store (GC, Sam Ash, etc.) will all carry inexpensive mic clamps. Go spend $10 and you'll be ready to roll!

duct tape my friend, if you can't duck it, fuck it. I've duct taped my tbar on a stand before.. it works.. just make sure you do it really well. Good luck. peace
