Title: Noise in my tapes?
Post by: discopanic1 on August 11, 2004, 06:56:13 PM
I set my mics either at: nos, ortf but with 30cm, and xy and always get the same noise.  I'm really not sure what it is.  It just sounds like a very bad recording with a very light pppppppppiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggggggggggg all the way through the tapes.  Hint, tips?  Thanks so much.... Jesse

I'm not sure what called, but I can always tell it is taped with mics(the sound).  I know the last tapes where gonna come out bad anyways with the positioning from the wall but same problem in the center of the room in the State Theatre.  I'm not real up to date on the terminoligy, but just sounds like bad recording.  My plan is to send the folks puirchased from a cd with 4 different recordings with same problem.  Peace.... Jesse

What do you hear if you just put the deck in Rec/Pause and just monitor through headphones...? Is the noise still there?

Try it - that will narrow down the problem...

I never hear the noise through my headphones, music being too loud for me to pick up sound through headphones.  I'm gonna try one more tape at the State Theatre at the end of this week.  Thanks for the tips so far.... Jesse

..... being it still could have been the echoe from the mic placement and the horrible room conditions(20' by 10' - very small)
