Title: Sonic Studios Stealth Mics any good?
Post by: grider on August 17, 2004, 05:56:23 PM
this may sound like a rather naive question, my knowledge of stealth set ups is limited since I use a full-sized rig, but are Sonic Studios stealth mics any good?  Specifically, are the Dimensional series stealth mics any good?  any thoughts about them, and any idea about the values of used prices, are appreciated, thanks, Grider

I've heard some damn good tapes made with them! I don't know specifically about the Dimensional series, but they do produce a good stealth mic.
Now,.... if you are considering such things,.... The DPA 406x series is amazing!

There is a pair of DPA 4060s, with batterybox for sale on DATHEADs for $595...I think they sound leaps and bounds better than the SS (although I don't know what the Dimensional series is).

there are some pretty rockin dsm6s tapes out there, no doubt.

These were the mics I planned on getting before I learned about polar patterns

that's a good price isn't it?
about what a new DMS6 pair + batt box would cost, isn't it?

and it's much better for sure.
