Title: New microphones
Post by: musicguru on August 20, 2004, 06:42:15 PM
I'm fairly new at this and looking to buy some new mikes for my minidisc.  Stealth not an issue most of the times.
Record mainly orchestral, pipe organ, children's choirs and some folk.  The only time stealth is an issue is with the
orchestral recordings.  Looking to spend around $200 or so.  Any advise would be appreciated.  Musicguru

For $200...I suggest going over to www.soundprofessionals.com and checking out a pair of SP-CMC-2's aka AT831's, they run $120...also pick up a battery box...SP-SPSB-1 with Bass Rolloff option for $79...brings you to a total of $200.

Granted I am a new taper myself...and have only taped a few shows so far...but I think I have produced some nice sounding shows with this setup. And if you do some research on these pages, you'll see that many people recommend this setup (which is why I went ahead and took their word for it)

Hope this was helpful.

Needs phantom, no ?

From what I've heard of the ATs they are an excellent choice.

Huh?  Are you asking for advice on stealth mics?  If so, check out the Archival Info forum for a post that links to a bunch of different discussions on stealth mics.
