I just found this thing
http://www.batteries.com/productprofile.asp?appid=307871
How do you think it compares with the Walmat battery?
Are these compatible with my pre-amp (Core Sound Mic 2496), which runs on 9V DC?
-
looks good to me, and 20$ cheaper than wal-marts, but a little less capacity right?
depends on your power cable for the mic2496 and if you can buy an adaptaplug at radio shack
-
i dont see a problem, and for the price, its def worth a shot :)
-
but you gotta consider that you can get a 9.6v 3000mah rc pack from batteryspace.com for like 17$ though. but you gotta factor in a charger as well
-
I figured that it would not be a problem to run my pre with a 9.6V battery, but I figured I would ask just to be on the safe side.
What is the capacity of the Walmart battery?
Also, the Walmart battery is LiON and this is NiMH. What are the differences between the two? Which is better for this application?

Hey, does anyone know why my avatar and profile information are not showing on this thread? I am logged in and I can see my profile, but I'm showing up as a guest.

I saw this before as well, but all seems well again now. No idea what happened...

Walmart batt is 9v 5000mAh. IIRC, lithiums tend to last longer than NiMH batteries.
This does look like a nice backup battery though. I may have to pick one up (looks like it uses the same charging system as the walmart batt, too).

Good find. Looks huge next to that small lappie but looking at the plug maybe it's just a little larger than the Wal-Mart battery. I would choose Li over Ni. Looks like this battery also has a charge indicator on the top like the Wal-Mart battery.
For an additional $30 I would go with the Wally battery. Grace emailed me that it looked like a good power source and it seems to already have been proven worthy on the road with the V3. You spend over $1k on equipment. What's another $30 for a battery that may be better? Curious how heavy that battery is. The Wally battery is a feather weight.

;D that is a portable dvd player, not a lappy ;)

OK, I bought one of these. It arrived in two days, which is cool because I'm going to a festival this weekend. I break it out of the package and it clearly says 7.2 Volts. WTF? My pre requires 9V and the only reason why I bought this battery is because it was supposed to be 9.6V. Am I missing something, or is this thing useless for my application?
-
most likely useless to you, post it for sale in the yard sale, someone will grab it im sure to use with a ua5!

FYI, I only run my UA5 off 7.2 volts, unless a 12v SLA is used When i encounter some sort of battery terrorists.
