well, i traced (by accident, as always) the source of my dropouts to the ratshack cable i was using to run the HEBs into the line-in of the sbm-1. so i need to replace it. i am still upset about being talked out of buying the HEBs terminated with a miniplug rather than a pair of RCA males, but that is a stroy for another day, and even if having core-sound recable them is an option (and i don't know if it is), it is not a viable option for me atm because i need a solution soon, as my current cable is not field worthy, and i have some gigs coming up...
is there a high quality, prefab cable solution?
would i find better quality constructing my own patch cable..?
what are my options..?
thanks, in advance, for any and all assisance in this matter.

if you are looking at going upper end, give sonic sense a call as Jerry at Audio Magic is making lots of cables with different terminations, he may help here.
If your looking for quality at a lower price, go to Ed at kindkables...he has made a couple of special requests for me with great results.

right on, nick! thanks for the info - what kind of prices are we talking for the high-end stuff..? i see from (from the link you posted) that the "value-cable " would be $40 - 50...

interconnects for the audio magic, I am guessing in the ~$90 range, and for kindkables...he made me a similar cable (male mini end) for ~$50

what difference do i get for the extra fifty clams..? you didn't feel there was enough of a difference, apparently...

I actually prefer the Audio Magics now. But I do have the kind kables models for versatility. The AMs are smaller, easier to deal with and smoother sounding in the highs in my opinion.

again, thanks very much, nick.
i will be in touch with those vendors sometime today...
another +t (in a few hours :P) for all the help.

well, i am the proud owner of the "leegeddy special" patchcord.
Mogami cables
Calrad mini-plug (female)
Canare RCA (male) connectors
heavy duty construction - high quality stuff...
can't wait to use it tonight.
thanks again, marc. (nice meeting you last night, ta boot!)
