I was wondering how they are performing and if you can make digital transfers from source material from another rig or non copyrighted digital source.
you can if the signal comes line in
doug oade spoke about some HiMD mods similiar to those of the dat walkmans, if this is true than you have 94 min. of quality pcm into the STEALTHIEST recorder on the planet.

how many concerts last 94 minutes?
a very low percentage, but it's so tiny! I like to picture non-audio applications, like important business meetings or negotiations so you can stealth in a suit and prevent fraud or set someone up. that would be cool...
94 minutes is a big improvement over the sp mode they had last time.. plus its pcm.. you could atleast get the first set on one disc if its a long show.. I just want to be able to patch from a digital source... like say a dat passes a digital line to me and I SHOULD be able to upload it to computer via USB .. if I cant theres not a whole lot of reason to get it.. other than removable media..

Unless they've changed the specs, I believe the Hi-MD recorders do NOT allow you to transfer off the MD digitally if you make the recording digi-in:
Analog in | Digital out | ALLOWED
Digital in | Analog out | ALLOWED
Analog in | Analog out | ALLOWED
Digital in | Digital out | NOT ALLOWED
But maybe they've changed the specs. Or maybe I have the wrong MD altogether.
I saw that.. but I seem to recall some deabte as to whether that meant taking something with a digital copy protect on it and exporting it to something else.. such as a dvd to mini to computer.. I was thinking of using taking a digital out from someones digital amp/converter without a digital copy protect on it.. kind of like people use at shows.. and then going to computer.. I want to know if anyone has tried this yet.. I dont want to be stuck with a mini if I cant upload non-copyrighted digital sources..
Check the Oade board.
A thread on that board indicates that the Pre's are easily overloaded.
Mods would be required if you wanted to run line in for High Spl's.
