Anyone ever tape Richie Havens? Worth it?
-
Hudson River Arts Festival?
I'll be heading there myself, all I have is a stealth-type rig though...picks up alot of crowd noise.
Haven't seen Richie before, but he puts out some nice tunes.

mhm, Po-town is 5min from me. Last/First time I saw him was over 2 years ago at the Clearwater Festival...an announcement was made that recording wasn't allowed and staff went around asking people to take down their rigs.
anywho, I just noticed its free :) so I guess I'll Stealth er'

i was told that when he played my local place, the rams head, his manager/wife actually stipulated that she wanted bags and pockets searched for recording gear. this NEVER happens there, and the venue staff sort of put up a fight, and the manager/wife pulled the "he's not playing if you don't comply" routine.
i only offer this by way of illustrating his wife as an anti-taping nazi-ette. be careful!

Received this email in reply:
Hi Christian
Thanks for asking and we appreciate you supporting live music venues by attending one of Richie's concerts, but absolutely no audio or video taping is allowed at his shows, and that is at Richie's request.
Kind regards,

sounds like a challenge I willingly accept.

Oh, yeah...Richie has been 'no recording' since forever.

He played at my high school once. Too bad I didn't tape back them as I'm sure that would have been an easy stealth job lol.
