Title: Transfering Optical on a U2A
Post by: seekup40 on September 16, 2004, 11:45:44 AM
I purchased a U2A off of here about a month back, and ive tried converting a taper through optical, when i plug the u2a into my usb port only 1 light is showing up on the optical that the computer is reading, what do i have to do to make the computer reconize the other?

You mean the lights on the front of the U2A? I always have to open up the U2A control panel, click on analog and then back to digital to get it to recognize the signal coming in. A minor trick, but it works.

One's an input and one's an output...I don't think there should be a light on the input (the one on the far right), but I've never used it myself. It's not on on mine...

Its not on on mine either.  Take the "out" plug on the optical cable and conncet it to the "in" plug on the U2A.  should be cool.  Make sure optical is selected on the menu for the U2A.  Email offline if you have trouble.

only one port has a light because it is the out.  the other one should be the in.  does it not work?

so the optical out is supposed to be the only optical that lights up?

I had a fair bit of trouble with the U2A getting it to work properly.  It would work great and then after changing some of the settings not work at all.  It seemed to me to be a driver problem.  Anyway I switched to the M-Audio audiophile usb which works great.
