hey im new to these boards but from what i see its a good communitity...im just curious as to what i could use to record a couple concerts im going to..(i know there must be 100s of these threads, sorry haha)
as many people, im a budget and im looking for a cheap (but good) recorder that wll give me fairly good results....anybody please feel free to add me on aim (sn: andrewgitm) i would love any help!
i was thinking if perhaps someone "lent" me their equipment, i could send them a copy of the show i record..but i doubt that'll happen because of the price of some of the recorders..heh, worth a shot right?
thanks!

First off you won't make any friends referring to anyone here as bootleggers. We don't sell shows.
Secondly what exactly is your budget?

sorry, i didnt know the term "bootleggers" refered only to people selling shows, i thought it just meant you recorded them, so sorry if i offended anyone :D fixed now ;)
Hmm...was thinking around 50-70$ USD (which is about 100 CDN funds)

as for a recorder, if thats your nudget, you better gte a minidisc :P
if you can afford it, just get a nomad jukebox 3, they run about 180 dollars new(refurbished) but can store about 30 hrs of uncompressed wav recording, and you can use as an ipod-like device when not recording :)also easy transfers and whatnot, search the archivel section here on the main page, there are PLENTY of threads regarding all of the recording devices in use, just look around ;)

Bean got to before I, but I second what he said.
Also do you have mics? battery box?
You might try ebay to find a used minidisc or JB3, preferrably a JB3 as it recordes uncompressed.

I have nothing, heh..but i can borrow my friends MiniDisc, so im just looking for mics i guess...and battery boxes..are those the same as battery modules? (dont have one either)

Yeah battery module/battery box essentially the same.
You can try the Yard Sale section of this site I think there are some decent starting mics up for sale, I don't know if $50-$70 would get you started though.
www.soundprofessionals.com (http://www.soundprofessionals.com) they have decent microphones and battery boxes that would do well ran line-in on a minidisc, given it's a loud rock show, but I hear shipping out of US can be hard through them, check it out though.

^^ im not sure where the mics are lol im not familiar with the names of them....i did look in the yard sale section though
