Hey guys,
This is a simple question....can I record a show with an iPod? If so, what do I need (cable wise, software wise, etc.)? Theank you for your help.
Peace,
Denny

In a word, no.
-
there is no way as of now to record with an ipod

Actually you could get the Belkin voice recorder. I doubt it would even be listenable, though. ;)

Yikes! I take it back, my sincere apologies.
Last night I was at an acoustic gig where a young lady recorded the entire thing with an iPod. Looks like she used a little microphone module, perhaps the griffin iTalk:

I didnt have the heart to tell her I'd recorded it myself with my usual setup..

yes they have those, but remember when you tried to share that amazing guyute with your buddy in cleveland over your cell phone? remember when he said it sounded like noise and couldn't hear what was going on? that's kinda what those voice recorders sound like :)

Yeah, I could record this show with this Fisher Price recorder, but would we really want to hear it later???

Cut from here: Google search "WAV recording with iPod"
http://www.macdevcenter.com/pub/a/mac/2004/06/22/ipod_recorder.html
"All of these devices capture 16-bit mono at 8 kHz. Not great for music concerts, but darn good for voice recording."

Exactly my thoughts, and yes, as Mizary pointed out, it would still be recording as mp3. This is why I said above that I didnt have the heart to point out to the girl that I'd recorded it myself (in full stereo). Why make her any less pleased about what shes done?
But the fact remains that I was wrong about my first post, and I've realised I've been a bit of an arse recently (which I guess is why I'm getting some -Ts!). I've even started sending out a few copies of the Velvet Revolver show I ranted about a few days ago to the fans that really wanted it.
Yours insomnially,
Humbug
