Title: low sound ??

Hi :)

Well, yesterday was my first try at taping a show with my new rig ...

sp-tbf-2 (omni's low sens.) >> sp-spsb-1 (@69hz) >> iRiver iHP120 (line-in)
(located in front of the board slightly on the left, about 15m from the stage)

and i must admit that i'm quite happy with the result :)

One thing tho is that the resulting volume is very low, i'm not sure why .. i had the
bb set at 69hz roll off and the volume level control was at max, and the ext mic volume
on the iRiver was set at 10 (out of 20)

To get a louder sound i had to improve by 334,97% (10,5dB) the wav in Soundforge (process >> volume)

I was wondering if any of you could give me some hints/tips for improving the sound level for my next taping :)

what kind of music were you tapig? how loud was the music from the PA?

the only way to get a louder recording is for you to amplify the output signal from your mic/battery box.
the best way to achieve that is adding a preamp into the equation.

it was a french rock band called Overhead, you can hear samples of their album here : http://www.overhead-music.com/

and the sound from the PA were good, i mean the level were loud enough for this kind of music :)

which pre-amp would you recommend ?

if the loudest points are clapping or something (or if you just don't care about the 100% true dynamic range) you can also use some sort of a limiter and volume maximizer in SF or audition, etc
