This may seem like a silly question, but what are the benefits of using ANSR on the V3? I have a basic understanding of what it does, but is it really necessary? I always run with it on, but I'm not really sure why :-\ Does it make that much of a difference in 16 bit?
-
im not sure of the exact details. i know one person in particular that when he didnt know exactly what it did, he ran a bunch of shows alternating with it on and off, said he couldnt tell one bit of difference
im going to run it at 16bit regardless, might as well

its the v3's internal dithering/resampling feature, better to be safe than sorry and start truncating bits and shit :P
-
thats what i always figured, let the V3 do that stuff instead of maybe truncating something

The a/d is 24-bit, so unless you engage the ANSR word-length reduction, it outputs 24-bit. If you're running a DAT, JB3, or other 16bit recorder, you definitely are better off using the ANSR to output 16bit instead of truncating the 24bit signal.

Natelsky,....
Your thoughts on cANSR?
oh, good lord, no.

compare with ansr on, and truncated from 24>16 by the deck, and see what you like best. no opinion offered. ;)

Frank didn't know how to use the thing, though....that's like aiming your mics backwards for the first set, and calling it a comparison. :P
