Title: Computer router help

Ok, so I've had wireless for a while and I'm starting to have some problems.  I think someone around me just got wireless as well and my computer is picking up their signal.  The internet is not working properly now because my computer recognizes their signal now too.  My question to you guys is how can I get my computer to recognize just my router and its IP address.  I use just a basic linksys B router and a Dell 600m.  Any help trying to figure this mess out would be great!

you could force to lock onto a specific channel, and ask you neighbor to do the same

put wep/wpa and disable your ssid from being broadcast, ask your neighbor to do the same.

if not, get rid of your internet and just use his/hers ;)

I am not sure who has it, that's the problem and I have used thiers before and I got a very crapy signal

I have run into that problem, in your wireless options on your computer you can move your SSID to the top so it tries to connect to that one first

What exactly is a wep/wpa and ssid.  I think I am making head way over here!

I just got off the phone Linksys and they were able to solve all of my problems!  Much props to Linksys! :) :)

WEP/WPA are security encryptions
WEP = Wired Equivalent Privacy
WPA = Wi-Fi Protected Access - the newer and "better" protection since it is a longer key and harder to crack

SSID = service set identifier - the name of your router linksys's default name is "linksys" so it is easy to get on someones network when it is default like that

also remember to change the default password for the router, admin/admin is pretty easy to guess
