Title: Recording a show played in Surround....Queensryche
Post by: SPLASTiK on October 06, 2004, 07:30:32 PM
So someone gave me a free ticket to see Queensryche tomorrow night.  It's advertised the show will be in Surround sound.

I guess I should stand in the middle of the floor then?
I usually stand off in front of the P.A. but this shows in Surround. I'm running Sonic Studios Mics so they're omnis.

Anyone ever tape a show that was performed in Surround? How'd it turn out?

Or anyone know how Queensryche is setting up the surround array at the venues?

i think the commodore is pretty much already equipped for surround sound.  they certainly have PAs in the right spots, except maybe the rear.  thats my best guess for vancouver.  likely hte best spot would be in the middle of the floor just take note of the PAs hangning on the support beans along the dancefloor.  that's the "sweet spot".  not a bad place to tape from,  but also a place where all the talkers hang oout.  and when the crowd gets bored, they'll chirp.
