Post by: phatdats on October 12, 2004, 10:11:48 PM
I have a multiface (and cardbus adapter) that i have been using with my picturebook (667 caruso, 384 mb memory)  I have been taking 24/96 digi input with no problem, but wanted to try recording 8 seperate analoge ins  (at 16/44.1)tomorow night.  anyone ever used a picturebook for multitracking like this?  can the caruso processor keep up??

thanks!

What up Steve-

Long time no see!

By the way, the picturebook uses a crusoe processor, not caruso, I think you have been listening to too much opera.  J/K    ;)

Can you test it at home beforehand? Might be tough to find 4 analog stereo sources to output at once but would be worth it. (CD player, VCR, DAT analog out, and maybe a line out of your receiver??)

Take care,
Ben

I thought it the multiset that took the analog input and the multiface took digital input only?  Or, do I have them mixed up?

I used to run a multiset>p-book.  My p-book struggled at 24/96 and sometimes even locked up.  I think it will be a stretch to run 8 channels.  But, if you have the ability it doesn't hurt to try it beforehand, you never know, it might work.

you could ctrl-alt-delete and look at your cpu usage while recording for some indicator as to how hard it's working.  Disc I/O could be the other point of failure....does it make your drive chug hard or just write lightly?
