Title: MD question
Post by: SkaGuitarOAR on October 14, 2004, 09:59:14 AM
Ok, so I have a mini disk player, is that what I need to record onto a mini disk?  I still need a mic and several other things, any help with setting this up would be great.

You need a mini disc recorder to record onto mini disc.  A quick check on your MD manufacturer's website should tell you whether your MD has record capability.

They don't have my mini disk player on their site anymore, mines a Sony MD player.  But I will keep looking around then.

I figured out that I have an MZ-EH1 Sony MD player.  So if that will help I still need to know if that can record.

Ya I'm searching like crazy for equipment in my price range and that is good.  Which is becoming a near impossible task.

Not affiliated, yet a good deal:  http://www.minidisct.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=24985

However, I will be upgrading to a JB3 this winter (unless anything similar comes out) and they are similarly priced used.  If ya gotta start over with equip., maybe go that route.

What's your price range? I worked with a ~$600 rig for about ... 4 years...

I'm thinkin like under 200 haha.  which i know sounds bad, but I think I can make it work.  Cause a JB3 would only be like 120 on ebay..then all I would need is mic+power so ya.

You can get a decent MD deck for $200. Conversely, you can get a decent pair of mics+power for $200. Expecting to get a decent rig for $200, you'd have to have the luck fairy on your side.

Luckily Christmas is right around the corner :)  Yes I am still living with my parents, but I'm only 15, so what do you expect?

I have a job, but I only get 5.75 an hour haha.  Plus I only work like an 8 hour week, and so every pay check is like 80.

Ah, let me tell you, that was my life out in NC when I worked at PS.. made $6-$6.50 an hour and sometimes only worked one day a week.. bleh!

Kudos tho, I don't have a job  ;D

Ya, work at Chick-Fil-A.  They are awesome with scheduling and stuff, so thats the only reason I put up with a 5.75/hour pay.

ps bitched if i took one day off to work a job that'd pay me $30 an HOUR, and then when i would free up my schedule would give me 20 or less hours, citing "well you had days you weren't available'.

GAAAAAAAAAH.

ahem.

Chick fil a.. hey i love that place. I fuck up my diet every time I eat there...

Ya and lose any money you have when you go there too haha.  I hate charging people so much, makes me feel bad.  But they are really awesome about time off and scheduling.  I really need more pay though, especially if I am gonna be buying a JB3 and mic.
