I setup to tape papamali last night and double check that both my mics are set on card. I'm breaking down at the end of the show and notice one is set to card and the other to figure 8 go figure. Not sure when i hit it but that's the way it came out. Guess i will have to double check my check.
-
I've had that happen too- it was one as card, the other as hyper.
+t bummer
-
I've effed up like that myself, only I set the mics to Figure 8 instead of Hyper....sounds interesting, to say the least... :P
-
you don't have to have large diaphragm switchable patterns to make that mistake!
i did it with my oktavas...
i've got a sample somewhere around here i'll try to post, sounds pretty fucked up!
edit: found it!
one channel was omni, the other was hyper if i remember correctly, and the channels were swapped!
i was going to run split omnis, but one cap was fucked up when i did a signal test...i switched it out and moved to hypers xy config, but i forgot to change the other cap or switch cables as i was rushing. luckily i didn't care too much about that set and then realized the mistake afterwards so the rest of the day turned out fine.

lol, next time i'll be sure to point the mics in the opposite direction also ;)
-
I'm so obsessive about checking and rechecking those switches it seems like I get OCD when using the TL's. Has anyone ever thought of cutting/sanding them down a little so you'd need a key or something similar to adjust the pattern to prevent instances like this? Guess I'll look into it.

...and you still probably walked away w/ the best recording in da place! ;D
-
it'd be cool if you "accidentally" hit the m/s switch on the v3 at the same time 8)
-
schwill, there is no 'm/s' switch, its an internal jumper :P
-
I once used one ck63 cap and one ck61 cap. not on purpose of cource. came out better than you would think.

Yes I think team Pittsburgh has dubbed that the Jason R method ;)
-
Ah yes the good old Rhin method, 1 hyper 1 omni split 10 feet. Then changing caps mid song, classic! ;D
-
ouch ;D
-
i'm guilty too.....and my tapes sounded poopy ;D
-
hey you can try to do a quasi M/S with this recording ans salvage it. it can be don in post with soundforge. ya never know it might come out great!
-
could give it a shot, i guess it wouldn't hurt to try
