Title: Laptop recomend

What are the most important specs to look at when purchasing a new laptop.  Battery life?  Weight?
I want to
1. record (was thinking about a new partition w/ win2k on it)
2. Use for office stuff
3. If i have a Ua-5 wmod, do i need a vxpocket 2, or will something cheaper work

1. Search for the laptop tapers FAQ for recommened computer settings
2. no problem
3. the UA5 will work directly into the lappy's USB for 16 bit but some have reported iussues doing 24bit possibly because the UA5 is only USB1.  others have no problems doing 24bit.

I have successfully ran 24/96 over usb 1.  From my experience the secret is dual-booting so one OS boot is dedicated ONLY to recording. run the windows audio tweaking tips and have ONLY programs you need. for me it's wavelab and flac.  that's it.
