I don't know about the innards of the V3, but for starters, do not, under any circumstances, turn on phantom power when plugged into a board.

I've heard of people running SBD > V3 with no adjustment to their jumpers.  There is a set of internal -20dB jumpers that drops input levels -20dB.  Would it be your safest bet to adjust them?  Yeah.  Is it likely you'll be hosed if you don't?  Maybe.  Safe bet:  set the jumpers to -20dB.

Hopefully someone who's actually run SBD > V3 will have some info for you.

if ou keep your gain at around 5 you should be ok.  if you are friendly with the soundguy, he can adjust his output ofr you.

check the manual D- (available online)

in the back there is a schematic for all the jumpers.

I think unless the signal is real hot you will prob. be ok with stock jumper config and just using low gain, but no actual personal experience unfortunately.

I personally think a good AUD smokes a straight SBD (sounds so much more realistic to me), which is a big reason I haven't tried this yet...

Happy taping!
Ben

Is that bad for the V3 or the SBD...?

Only bad if you forget to turn the phantom off

Extremely bad for the SBD

As I suspected...hate to say it...but the soundman in me says..."No V3 patches"

No way I'd let one of those on the board...unless it's totally impossible to turn the phantom on by mistake...

Sounds prickish...but I'd hate to have to explain why I ruined a board....

Probably don't need to switch the jumpers then, since you will have control over the levels the V3 is seeing.

thats what i figured

only time i ever saw anyone go SBD > V3 was ymsb several mmonths ago at the canopy, ben you were there

i have no idea how to get ahold of that guy to get a tape tho

il be coming off all the outputs of the board into my mixer so i can adjust each channel accordingly, then xlr out > v3

i might just get there and run a aud tape, depends on the venue, ive never been to this place before

il tape a aud tape over any board any day fo the week ;)

i printed out the page with all the jumpers, and cut out the section with the ms and -20 jumpers and taped it to the back of my v3 :D
