Post by: charles on October 30, 2004, 01:34:18 AM
Is there an exact JB3 model that I need to buy in order to record with. I'm looking at the ones on ebay and there are a lot of different nomad jukebox listed.....which one is it?

Why take someone else's word for it?  If you're concerned about the quality, go listen to my D100 v. JB3 comp (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=14574.0).  I can't host it right now, but maybe someone else still has it?  If not, I'll host it for you 2nd week in November sometime when I get back home.

I must admit that I wasn't so sure about the jb3 until I held one in my hand and ran one at a show. It is a great piece of equipment and I have been very pleased with the results.

as far as quality of sound.... that would only be a concern if the jb3 was doing the a > d. then see brian's comp. If you are going digital in, the integrity of the bitsream is the same.

do yourself a favor and buy one. If you decide you don't like it, I'm sure you'll have no trouble finding a buyer.

i don't think opinions differ as to the quality of the jb3, as anyone who uses one will tell you.  there are opinions as to what media to record onto.  everyone here who has one loves them, and many have more than one.  we've all had various minor with them, but mostly due to operator error, or software issues.  you cannot get a better recorder for the money, and the price continues to drop.  i may get one and just put it on the shelf(i own two).  given your current situation, you should have already ordered one.  if for some unfathomable reason you are dissatisfied with it, i'll buy it at face value.
