what can i do to make this sound better. sounds like it's a little too heavy on the bass and kickdrum. i'm really not very good at doing post editing so that's why i'm asking.

Well... it is more than the bass. It seems like you had the settings on your recorder set OK. The main level is below the clip for the recorder. But the mics were not handling the SPL level. They were clipping in an ugly way. There is nothing you can do for that one. I'm guessing this was a stealth recording, and I'm guessing that your mics are inexpensive, and most likely without a battery box. If you are using a box, you have to set the attentuater down, but most likely your mics simply can't handle the level of sound that they were faced with. Post the source and we can probably help more for next time, but this one is DOA.

Yep...that's the sound of distortion and too high of a SPL.

awww shit. yeah i never actually get this kinda problem w/ my mics. the problem was actually in the recorder. i accidently forgot to flip the attenuation on the M1 to -20db att. >:(
sucks that it took me 2 shows to figure it out.

yeah i know. i've made +3 years worth of recordings. it always suprises me how i could mess up a recording here and there. :P
