Pretty good deal.  Congratulations!

Is it a good machine????

Yes.

Good for making recordings???

Yes.

Worth 149.00?

I think so.  Tell us what you think after using it.

Reliable??

Yes.

user friendly???

Yes.

What all is it good for what are its other uses???

It's a hard-drive recorder and playback device.  It's uses:  recording and/or playing back audio.

Please gimme some feedback, and please no jargon, I am a tech retard.

There are two FAQs in the Archival Info Forum:

[1] Operating FAQ.
[2] Taper's FAQ.

Take a look at 'em.  And taping requires some semblance of technical knowledge, so no way to avoid the jargon, get used to it.  :)

Hey Ray,
After you read the faqs, give us an idea of what bands you are looking to tape and we can help you further.  There is tons of information here, and whatever you don't find is most likely floating around in someones head here!  Welcome to the board, and a very cool hobby!  You'll have fun!
+t for comming to the right place.

Mine rides velcro'd onto the gas take of my Electa-Glide when it's not recording.  I've owned mine since the DAY they were released (got Creative to ship me one with a story about how I had to get my review in under a deadline).  Mines been dropped, taken apart at least 50 times, had the optical input broken off the board and resoldered - in a word - USED AND ABUSED.

Be a DAMN SHAME if Creative doesn't replace this discontinued model with a similarly capable unit (with 24/96 capabilities)...

I love my NJB3- so much so, I bought a backup.  It's works almost flawlessly all the time, although a paperclip is a handy item to have when you really need to reboot it (I've had to do this twice).  Other than that, its been great.

I treat mine with a lot of care, and pretty much only use it for recording and transferring to the computer.  I only use it for playback on the way home from shows to hear how the recordings sound.

I have 2 also.  I clean up the hard drive after every recording transfer.  Always tape in WAV format.  Clean sounding with no hiss in the recording.  Certainly, it has won the prize of DAT killer.
