My current rig is AKG 391's>UA5>JB3.
I wanted to get other's opinions on if I'd be better off getting a warm mod UA5 or the hyper caps (ck93's) for my mics?? About 75% of my taping is in smaller places, ranging from bars to small theaters. Would I benefit alot from having the hypers in these situations or are they better suited to bigger places?

from what people have told me the 93's are great in every situation, so that is going to be my next logical upgrade. I am in the exact same position as you.

If you like the way your digimod UA-5 sounds, I go for the hypers. I ran 91/93 ยป wmod UA-5 for a bit and it was a bit bommy for my tastes. I can send you some samples if you want. PM me.

Thanks for the input so far. I'd definitely like to check out some of those samples Kevin, PM sent! From what I heard the hypers "pull" the sound in better. I'm guessing they would give it more of a upfront sound with less ambient noise.

From the little bit I've listened so far, my 393 > stock UA-5 from MMW last sat could be the best pull I've had yet.
I could peel off the chubb sub 2nd encore pretty easily & let you download it tomorrow if you'd like.

Mirth that would be great too. The more sources I have to check out the better. +t's for all the input.
