I taped a show on Friday Nov 12th here in Indy at the Murat Egyptian Room and did an experiment becuase I am thinking about uprading to the AKG 480 mics. I ran the Lux SMKH8K cards the first set and the AKG 480s during the second set. I was wanting some opinions on the difference in the sound of the mics in correlation with the difference in price. Basically....is it worth the money for AKG 480s or should I stick with the lux mics for now?
Here is a link to the BT of the show: http://bt.etree.org/details.php?id=9225
If this experiment interests you then go ahead and download the show...but please come back here and let me know what you think of the difference in sound.
I also posted a thread of this show in Kickdown Central and here is the link to that: http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=30083.0
Thanks,

Those 480's sound sweet, way more detail than the luxes. If you have concerns spending lots of money for the 480's and caps, you should maybe consider the AKG 391's.

What do your ears / brain / heart / pocketbook say?

yeah, prolly the most notable thing is detail :)
