Okay here's the deal. i recorded Project Object about 2 weeks ago, and i was noticing some radom clipping but it is not overloading. I also notice when i listen to it there is small stactic/clipping, but not terribly noticable. It was my first time using a JB3. I tried re-transfering the file to my PC, but it was the same results.
One thing i could only think of is i powered my Hosa-276 using a powersonic 6v4.2amp. I wasn't sure if the higher voltage could be the problem.
Any Suggestions!!!
BTW, my set-up is:
AKG393>GP-DMic(48k)>Hosa-276>JB3
JB3>USB>Soundforge6.0>wav>flac

Random clipping would be from over-levels, no ? This isn't too unusual on live recordings.
Position at stage mic changes, soundman goes up, compressors go down, whatever.
Set the levels a bit lower, unless the devices are auto-leveling for you.
Static is another ball of cheese. Cables, radios (RFI), room noises (air handlers/air conditioners), power glitches, etc.
Also, with HD recording, there's always the HD to consider, which might mean a format or whatever is done on your device.
With optical in the chain, there's even another layer to consider. Clean connectors (with compressed air), check integrity, etc.
I guess the question is how random ?
+T for wanting to make better recordings !
