-Is the Sony ECM-MS907  considered powered mic?


-Are IC recorders good for taping concerts?

Yes, this takes batteries so it is powered. It can't handle loud loud volumes though. I've never used one but I just looked at it's specs for you...

IC recorder? More specific? For your purposed you'll want something that records at at least 16bit 44.1khz. I think some IC recorders record below those rates and the quality would be noticable. Again I don't use IC recorders so maybe someone who does can answer too...

It is powered in that it requires a battery.  I didn't get any signal when plugging it into the line-in on my MD (MZ-R909).  It works alright for the money.  I used it to record my son's baby talk and myself drumming.  I never used in a live music setting.  It's pretty low-end mic so I would imagine it would overload easily in high SPL situations.  I never used it with a battery box so maybe that would work.  I'll try and test that with my stealth box.
