AWESOME! excellent venue, real intimate (with tables) good food and a nice bar. very classy place. sounds great in there too. its run by the public theater so its nonprofit which is cool, so dont feel AS bad coughing up $5 for that beer. I had a great pull there a few months ago (can provide samples if youd like). I suggest when you go in, taking a right up towards the bar. There you will see a large beam DFC infront of the stage behind the first booth on the left, and in front of a small circular lounge like bench. I put my stand to the right of the beam, with the legs mostly hidden under the booth or up against the beam. gives you a nice little alcove to tape from. and you can grab a seat at the bar or on the lounge like bench and relax while you tape. I would suggest running your mics higher than youd expect to have to in such a small place, not because of any loud crowd (although i guess that depends on show) but because assuming that theyre doing table service during the show (which they probably are given the 7:30 and 9:00 times) youll get lots of clinking glasses and plates (which is still way better than some asshole talking through your tape).

anyway, i cant give this place enough praise, i loved it. hope you have tix to the show cuz according to the website both are sold out.

note to brian or a moderator: shouldnt this be moved to the venue's forum?

I disagree.. only slightly though..

I've taped there a few times and from the exact same spot and I often find the sound to be sh*tty
Then again I've been taping singer/songwriters.. so not sure if that makes any difference or not.. and I was using akg 414's set to hyper.

But the venue itself is cool...  no doubt..  one thing to note about being by the beam/pole... right to the left of that is the VIP both and those people tend to chat up a friggin storm.. :-)

ahh so that lounge is VIP? i guess there was no VIP when i was there, hence my getting to chill there and eat my dinner.

Yeah, I wanted to go to that show so bad Pat, no car is really really pissing me off. Please go and tape.

The Damo 2003 tape from there is pretty good, sounds like a cool little bar/venue.

I only saw Chocolate Genius and MeShell Ndegochello there (3-4 times?) and taped once, maybe twice. In fact, I think one show I just got transferred is from there. I set up directly by stage and just ran on table. YUMMY.

high priced drinks like a mofo tho, and i'm pretty sure there's a minimum. $12 drink = bit pricey = glad company paid.

yeah its pricey indeed. i opted for dinner insted of the $12 drink minimum and spent 17 for a plate of about 8 ravioli  ::) but theyre nonprofit so its almost like im giving the money to a good cause
