Me and my bandmate, buck, are tryin to organize a "roots-country" music fest here in Germany. I already know a venue that is cool with it, and will pay, but need some bands(AMERICAN preferably, cause this is AMERICANA roots music, after all) bluegrass, alt-country(not that contemporary scholck..im talkin hank sr, merle haggard, gram parsons, etc,and appalachian music, are welcome, )two songs from my band can be found at www.soundclick.com/stumpholeband (http://www.soundclick.com/stumpholeband) On the first one(which I know is very repetitive and LONG, but was used in a very B movie here in germany that made about 22 euros...and was made with 30) thats me playin a dobro and the main acoustic and all 8 vocal parts...My buddy buck is covering brush, and bass...on the second one, that is me again(doing my tom waits-johnny cash vocal thing, and playin the pedal steel..my wife is singin backup, and buck is doin the rest..These songs were recorded in 6 hours on a boss 8 track, so it is pretty rough(and not really our sound, now, our cd is currently being mastered in the US), but anyway, were lookin for bands to come jam with us here....If you all know any bands that meet that description, let me know please.Man, we sure miss our fellow american musicians Tired of this euro trash and hip hop drumandbass techno love parade bullshit......Yall take care...Ray

I went to this fest and I am sure most of them are accessible. Probably fairly cheap too besides Rhonda Vincent and Del. I doubt Jimmy Martin would make the trek due to his age, but you never know.

Try Urban Hillbilly Quartet (http://www.urbanhillbillyquartet.com/) out of Minnesota. Lots of MP3s posted on the site.

I have a good friend at 930 club who travels extensively to Old Crow Medicine Show.. He swears by them. He actually borrowed a rig and taped a show late summer and did pretty good for a 1st timer.
Does Jim White count towards this category.. great lyrics.

Jim white is amazing, man. I have been in love with his music since wrong eyed jesus....
That is wild..Havent heard any folks mention that name in a while..These are all great choices. They will come in very handy when I begin to organize this event. I am trying to give the less well known bands first divs, but I will consider all...+Ts all around...Thank you all very much. Oh and did the link to my bands old stuff work?????that stuff is really primitive, so sometime the recordings not reliable...
Thank yall again.
