Title: Is sp-spsb-2 good enough for sound professional sp-cmc-1p stealth recording
Post by: karmapolice on December 05, 2004, 01:13:51 PM
I live in Los Angeles and lotsa venues do a patdown so I just got my jb3 and want a stealth operation.  Is the combination of Sound Professionial SP-CMC-19 with with SP-SPSB-2  battery.  Any reason I should go with the SP-SPSB-6 over the SP-SPSB-1?  I know many prefer the sp-spsb-1 but its too big for my taste?  Is the smaller batteries not powerful enough for this stealth mic for the jb3?  I go mostly to shows to hear stuff like Wilco or Joseph Arthur...

Thanks

Michael

I've run the SP-CMC-19s once and was quite happy with them.

I stealth with the SPSPSB1 and am happy with it. Its pretty rugged. Not so big either, and clips to my belt while taping.

Not used one, but I'd always be worried about the battery getting loose with the SPSPSB6. The SPSPSB2 hasn't got a bass roll off, but if you're taping Wilco I doubt you'd need it. Bass roll off is useful for high volume rock bands.

I use CMC-8's > SP-SPSB-1 and 3 > Jukebox 3, and i really love the mini sp-spsb-3 bat box, with the  tiny ass batteries.  If the sp-spsb-2 is anything like the -3, then you shouldnt have any problems whatsoever.  One of the 2 times i got busted, someone got my sp-spsb-1, not my jukebox, so i try not to use my -1 if at all possible, but i did get it with the preamp setting.

boogie,

I will get the sp-spsb-6 but since the mic does not come with bass rolloff shouldn't I get the battery box with the rolloff feature?
