Has anybody ever noticed a difference in the performance of the various shock mounts available?
I've always used the AT8410a's, but I have the ones that came with my Studio Projects C4's. The C4 shock mounts are lower profile. I was thinking about starting to use them. The suspension is stiffer on the SP mounts. I just wonder if my recordings will suffer using them instead of the AT mounts.

they def don't provide as much iso as the 8410's. I did exactly this when I had my C4's. The ones that come w/ the C4's are way lower profile. I didn't notice anything different in my recordings. I eventually went with the Sony a53??? mounts. They work AWESOME, and they are lower pro than the 8410's.

try running both mics in a stereo configuration in a controlled/quiet environment, with one mic in the at shockmount, the other in the sp shockmount and see which better isolates taps on the stand, etc.

I'll try this. Thanks +T

I might try putting lighter tension bands on the SP shock mounts too.

i really dig the gefell eh93,shure a53 and the josephson elastomer shock mount.
pricy tho... ;D

Does the A53M provide as much isolation as the AT8410a?
I've seen them used a lot, I always figured the AT shocks were better. ???

the AT's have more iso than the Shure's, but I would think that the shure's have more than the C4 mounts. Don't have the C4 mounts anymore, or I'd test them myself... It's a trade-off, less isolation for more low-pro.
