Title: Another newbie SACD question...
Post by: musicsherlock on December 12, 2004, 10:06:45 AM
So I've got a samsung DVD player that plays back SACD; it reads the disc fine and plays back but there's nothing coming out of my receiver.  I have an optical hook-up between the DVD and the receiver, what else do I need to do?

Thanks

sacd only comes out via analog...

so for two channel, you need the l.r rca jacks plugged in... for surround, you need the 6 analogs (also rca) plugged into your receiver...

i hope this helps.

Most high-end receivers with iLink will do SACD decoding.

o.k., it's playing two-channel and I have it set-up analog in to the receiver.  It is now playing however it's extremely quiet.  I turn folume up to -4dB and I can still hardly hear it.  wtf?

What receiver are you using? Are you going into the analog CD inputs of your receiver? Have you got the DVD/SACD player set to read the two channel SACD layer of the disc?
