Title: Am I missing anything?
Post by: learning_towalk on December 17, 2004, 07:08:22 AM
my days of dynamic mic>minidisc are over...finally buying a "real" rig....here's my list of "to buy" stuff in mid January.I just wanted to see if you guys can think of anything else I'd need....

ADK SC-T mics
Edirol UA5 Oade Digi (P) mod
JB3 plus extra battery
SVU-1
stand
tbar
optical cable
mic cables  (15' right angles)
stuff for extra ua5 battery
carrying case (wal mart cooler modified to my likings)
shock mts
short rca for going UA5>SVU-1
50' RCA audio (for running matrix at shows where PA is on stage, "small bluegrass shows" that I always seem to find myself at)
extra 9v batteries for SVU-1

The 50 ft of RCA cable sounds like a bad idea...a bit long for an unbalanced run...

if you plane on tapeing outside your going to need stacks and a Unbrellia.

on the rca, is there another way that you can think of me being able to access the board at the same time as my mics with out interfering with the band? I figured that I'd get some nice RCA's....i know they'll be pricey, but it'd be worth it if it works....

what all adapters can you think of me needing aside from those for the stand?

yah I have that down on my list, just forgot to type it out....whoops, thinking about a shure vert bar (but may just get one of those superlux ones to start out with)

the only outdoor taping I'm planning on in the near future is B'roo, so I'll get an umbrella by then, what are stacks?

also the mics have windscreens that's why I don't have em listed
thanks for the help :)

ohhhh ok, yah I had planned on using tent stakes (light, won't take up alot of room in the bag....or Ican easily throw em in my backpack)

thanks a lot :)

I have thousands and thousands of discs here and I've always been facinated by taping, but I've never had the funds to get a real rig so I bought some cheap rat shack mic a 5 dollar musician's friend xlr and borrowed a boom mic stand and a sony md....(surprisingly pulled a few decent tapes, just goes to show that you can pull a good sounding tape with anything)....

but after saving up for a while and listening to many different sourced shows I've decided within my price range this will be the best rig for me (that is until I can get a 5.1 DVD hard disk recorder with all U89i's ;)   )  I'm really excited and hopefully I'll have everything ready for Del McCoury and OCMS at the Tennessee THeatre in late Febuary :D

Unbalanced cable runs over 25ft are not good.  Keep it under that length and you shouldn't get too much noise...

thanks....I guess since I'll be able to run onstage for some of those shows that a 25 footer will suffice....thanks a lot :)

I'm sure you know this, but 1/8th>RCA for the svu, and run it out of your jb3
