so ive been using shaped gaussian with noise shaping (44.1) recenly to convert 24/96 in audition 1.5 (formerly CEP). i like it but after doing some down sampling on silence and graphing the results i notice that this dither/noise shaping seems to introduce alot of noise. i was just wondering what others people used and why?

dither is, by definition, the addition of noise.
here's a website with some basic info... I'm sure someone else will have a better site

yes, i understand the definition, guess i shoulda been more clear eh? :P it seems that that noise shaping/dither combo is very present in the audible range. if i remember correctly it had some significant noise in the 8k range (maybe im off here) so im wondering if theres one in CEP thats more transparent so to speak...

Sorry, didn't mean to sell you short... you just never know so I default to the basics. :)
what are your options? It's been forever since I even used CEP. fwiw - Wavelab uses Apogee's UV22HR process...
-
options are just different names in CEP. i have UV22HR (and not HR) in cubase SX...but ive never been able to get either to work. any advice there...

Thanks, Dustin. Just curious, that's all. I'll pass on Wavelab - I'm still only 16-bit for now, so I wouldn't use it, anyway.
