Title: HELP PLEASE, POOR RECORDING
Post by: vicsbitz on December 18, 2004, 04:38:29 PM
Hi,i am new to taping shows, i taped my fourth show on thursday the other three went very well, they were all at the same venue, however on thursday the concert was at a different venue, missed the support so i set levels to what i had used before, anyway the bottom line is the levels were way too high and i am left with a very distorted recording,

can anyone point me in the right direction to try and clean it up a bit,i have cool edit and sound forge but i am only familiar with the basics.

thanks in advance

in CEP you can try messing around with Clip Restoration, I believe it's under effects > noise reduction. try some of the presets and see what happens.

If it's heavily clipped - and it sounds like it is - there isn't a whole lot you can do.  I've found the Clip Restoration function in CEP marginally effective, at best.  IMO, I'd write-off the recording and look forward to the next one.

you might try, you never know.

always worth a shot. and in trying you will learn more about your software that will come in handy down the road ;)
