they will, however, fail over time.  When they do fail, their symptoms are very "memory-like" -- i.e. will only accept a partial charge

Oh, how true.  Mine are only a year old (at least thats how long I've had them) and they only hold enough of a charge to record for 2hrs and change.  I wont buy the replacements, friggin' ripoff.
I just ordered the Power Plant batt to test. Its due to be delivered on 12/24, cant wait.  :)

I dunno.  Mine are 2+ years old, used almost daily.  Got 5+ hours last time out on 2 internals...

Bought a pair of new ones to go with my 2 Wally/V3 batteries.  I'm figuring 11+ hours now between charges, in a small lightweight form-factor (with 2 EC-90 boat anchors in the car for backup, gives me close to 24 hours of recording capability)...

Let us know details about that baby, and how much was your total? Under $20 with shipping?

Total on the Power Plant batt was ~$29 !!!  They charge $11 shipping on a batt that only weighs ~1lb !!
Still, its a great deal compared to what Creative is charging per replacement batts.

I agree.  I did cycle mine.  they worked fine until all the sudden they sucked.  I know I didnt drop them or cause any other trauma to them. I dont know what happened.

lithium ion batteries have a limited lifespan which is not measured by the # of cycles the batteries are put through, but the actual age of the batteries.  In otherwords, they go bad after a while whether used or not.  I've read that storing lithium ion batteries in the fridge when not in use can extend their life somewhat.

There is a JB3 battery on sale on Ebay right now ending today and it's like $6, with $10 shipping. I am gonna hold as I already have two, and see about this PowerPlant battery, sounds sweet!
