I do a lot of acoustic outdoor recording, and now have had one too many times where wind has almost ruined my recordings. I've done a little searching, and am realizing that it's not going to be easy to find bigger windscreends for my AT-853's. Anybody have any experience with this?
thx

Are these the SP-CMC-4's? If so, with the 8's I have, they came with Medium and Large windscreens (they are mini-cards); and the large windscreens are huge! I don't think I would ever use them. If these fit, and you'd like them PM me.

are you having problems with wind when using the windscreens that come with Stock AT853s, or a different windscreen? The stock ones seem pretty damn thick to me.

Karl,
I'd recommend the AT8117 windscreens. They go for $8-10 each. Available from B&H (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home;jsessionid=BIE4hYOsVC!-921948563?ci=1&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=SearchBar&A=search&Q=*&shs=AT8117), or special order from Full Compass. There's a photo of the windscreens on my Audix 1290 in this thread (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=26089.0). Search TS for AT8117 and I think there are some other posts with more info.

thierryhenry, check your PM's
The windscreens that I'm using are the stock ones, but they don't seem to be enough. They are about 3/4" diameter windscreen (outer diameter).
Ragan, what's the outside diameter of those windscreens? The website doesn't give much practical info.

AT8117: 3" long, 2" diameter, mic opening 5/16", mic insertion depth 2 1/2"
There's more in this thread (http://www.taperssection.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=17251.0).
