Title: Beginner mics: Behringer B5, Apex 180, or ???
Post by: poorlyconditioned on December 21, 2004, 05:52:53 AM
Is anyone out there using Behringer B5 or Apex 180?

I'm wondering how they compare to mid priced mics like SP C4, or Rode NT5.

I'm using AT853 now and they sound pretty good, but you don't know until you try...

definate downgrade from AT853s.   Many people here will tell you that the AT853s are the best mic for the money!  You'd prolly be happier spending that $$$ on a variety of caps for the ATs.

Are you runnin the ATs with a battery box, or phantom power?  Phantom power will make them perform even better!

Thanks for the reply.  I'm running my AT853's with a self-made battery box.  It gives mics the true "3 wire" connection needed to deal with loud shows.   They sound great.  Right now I'm running into a Minidisc (HI-MD NH800) mic in.  Next I'm going to put them into an Edirol UA5 and see if I get better sound/less noise.
