Trying to make final decision about whether to mod my cm100's for 48VP power or get new mics. Are there any kind souls out there who might be able to provide me with links to samples of mod Naks.....300's or 100's. If anyone has link to modded cm100's that would be fantastic. Thanks up fornt for any help.

Do you mean the Franken Nak mod or the Sank mod?
-
Uh. Shit. I don't know. The mod for 48VP Power.
-
Well, there's the leegeddy chop mod(Franken Nak) for the 300's, not sure if it's doable on 100's yet. And there's the 48V mod by Stephen Sank, and to run cp4's and regular caps each mic body will require a double mod, which adds up to 150 per body.

Charles, check out the leegeddy(Franken Nak) chop mod, just do a search. With this mod you can still use the CP4 caps with your CM100 power module's/battery tubes, and have all bases covered.

Charles,
I wish I had some shows up on the archive with the moded caps for reference..
but I can tell you that the mod was well worth it. for about $30 plus parts (roughly $110 in parts unless you have one of those 9v battery boxes) Marc Kim made the dream of "active" Naks a reality.
the overall sound has very much improved. a much cleaner sound now, highs, mids, and lows..

hello all and happy holidays.
i am FINALLY moved in and got DSL setup at home today!!
i have ts's cm100 with me and will work on getting it Franken-modded. i just need to swap out some resistors and it should work just like the cm300s.
as far as the cm300 mod goes, it's very straight forward and i love the sound of them.
again, happy holidays and glad to be back online on TS.com.
here's a link for the STS9 show i taped with the following:
LG mod Nakamichi CM300/CP1 Active capsule > AT8533 > BurrBrown mod Beyerdynamic MV-100 (48V phantom, +20dB) > Sony D100

individual flac files are up there for you to sample. for bass response try the song, GLOgli (70.1mb) and for tight mids try Nautilus (34.7mb).
