Hi - does anyone ever use akg 414s outdoors? What kind of windscreen do you use, the super slim foam, that came with them probably does not even help in the slightest breeze. I do not own the aks but I have the chance for frequent borrowing :)
thanks

split omnis rule your face ;)
Big fluffy foam is good, "dead rat" over slim foam should be fine

What ever you do do not run them ORTF. The large diaphrams already roll off the high end and at 110 degrees they sound real, real bad. Keep them at no more than 90 degrees and you will get great results, DIN or XY. I would agree that in split omni confiquration they sound great, too!
They come with stock wind screens, which work fine but in a bind you can use the same size that are used for Shure "ball" type mics.
