Title: DIY JB3 Beer/cruch resistant case
Post by: bagtagsell on December 29, 2004, 12:14:35 AM
So I have been wanting to do something like this for a year.  I got a dremel and decided to go to town.  I can't fluff the dremel enough.  My holes were a little off, as you can see.  Its fairly ghetto, but no beer wories, or crushing worries.  I'm happy.  Escues the feet.

parts
"metal" cd case purchased form walmart
foam
clear plastic, I used the clear plastic that comes over a cd spindle

Very cool, how long did it take you?

Interesting idea.  I have been thinking about doing the same thing with one of my small bags for a 'mini-rig' setup and have a clear plate to see through it.

i have exactly the same thing made for transportation, minus the holes

i dont run mine in the case, and mine has a ton more padding

Yeah I am going to add more padding.  I never thought about the heat issue, maybe I will dremel some cooling slots.  All in all it took me a couple hours.

looks as though it would add some protection to the optical cable as well +T

Good idea. Always cool to see people fabbing their own stuff. The hairy wook toe pic kinda grossed me out though  :P

nice. i have the same cd projects case, some day maybe i'll do the same. i do think you need more padding moreso to immobilze the jb3 to it doesnt mess up our optical input or battery input if bumped or jostled

Where do you get the good foam like I saw in the thread that contains pics of DIY pelican cases?

the foam i used is at walmart in the craft isle.  if you want pull and pluck foam, I think B&H has it, but order something else to help on shipping

Awesome!!!   Brilliant minds think alike, I use the same CDProjects hardcase for my JB3, but no holes or windows...  I use a trimmed peice of eggcarton foam to pad.  Works great.

Got a CD case from Big lots and did sorta the same, cept mine is padded nylon... Whole rig fits in it.  Mp2 on the bottom, along with the AT transformers, and the NJB3 is up top behind the zipper...

+T!
