Title: recording through mini disc to my pc

I have a Sony MZ-R55 with digital an optical line in and a Microphone input as well.  I was just wondering what kind of microphone, preamp, cables, cords batteries, and software i need to get this recording.  I want to tape shows in local venues aswell as festivals.  Thank you.

Honestly, all the answers are on this site, I've lost count of the number of threads of this type started recently. I just wish the taping guide was anywhere close to finished!

When you've spent a few hours researching the wealth of infomation on this site, if you have any further questions, please come back with specific questions stating:

-Stealth or open?
-Budget?
-Type of mic pattern (omni / card etc)

Minidisc, while very small, is not the most versatile of recorders to use.
