Hi, I am taping a show tonight (01/05/05). I will have a SBD patch. My equiptment: Edirol UA-5, DA-P1, CO2, JB3. I am new at this. I will either patch out of the band's DAT machine or out of the SBD. If I patch out of the SBD, should I use the UA-5 or skip it and go straight in to the DA-P1? If I do use the UA-5 I am not sure of the correct settings to use on the UA-5 and the DA-P1. If I patch out of the DAT I believe I need to go DAT>coax>DA-P1, correct? Thanks for any help!

I'd go UA-5 > JB3 from the board. I think you'd be fine going DAT > P1 if that is the route you choose. You can run RCA cables into the rear of the UA-5, adjust levels there, then use the optical out to record to the JB3 (I'm not sure why you have a CO2, unless that's not a coax/optical converter like I think it is).
Hope that helps!

I dont(or have ever used) a ua5.. but the two easiest things to do is take the tape-out (rca's .. if it has them) from the board and go line in (rca's) on the DAP1.. just coordinate with the sound guy on the levels HE is putting out..
or..
take the digi out of the bands dat deck to digi in on the dap1..
for a taste of what the dap1's d>a converter can do .. line in from the tape out of a board.. check this out..

Thanks Guys, I have been trying to do this today: Stereo receiver > RCA (tape out) > RCA in > Ua-5 > Coax out > Da-P1 (Coax in). I do not have a signal on the DA-P1. Using the UA-5, will I get levels on the DA-P1? Should I have the DA-P1 set on "Digital" for that config, and should I have the UA-5 set for digital? Thanks.

dont know about the ua5.. but for a dap1 to take and lock on to a digi signal, you must have the switch on DAP1 set to "digital" NOT analog.. if you have it set on digital, the other switches and what not will not effect anything..
when you have it hooked up and have a tape in the dap1.. press the "rec" button once on the dap1.. you should lock on to the sample rate and get levels..

Thanks again...

do you have a digi-mod ua5?
-
It is my buddy's UA-5. I don't believe it has any modifacation.
-
Ahh, without the mod, you cannot run the UA5 digital out without a laptop. In that case, use the DAP1 for either situation.

Thank you, that's the answer I needed.
