Title: Best option for backup storage device????
Post by: rdptha2nd on January 11, 2005, 11:04:42 AM
I currently use a JB3 but fairly recently will be able to afford another recording device.  I was wondering with a UA5 what my best option would be for a secondary storage device since the optical output is already being used.

Any suggestions?

Another question:

What portable DATs use a coaxial cable rather than optical, any other than the DA-P1?

Almost all DAT decks use coaxial.  With the Sony decks, you'd have to use a special short 7-pin cable.  but coax > 7-pin are the most common of these.  a D8 is propably you're best bet.

alternatively, if you want to buy a new deck, consider the Marantz PMD-670.  that'll take a coax digi in, record to Flash cards, and you could buy a couple of 2 gig flash cards and be set for 3 hours (same as DAT).
